Granite Anvil 1200

You are here:   Home General Information

Ride description: This 1200km ride starts east of the suburban area of Toronto, Ontario.  Leaving Oshawa, you will ride to the north and west of the region heading to Parry Sound for the first night's break (or riders may continue at their own pace). This region is cottage country and contains many scenic areas as well as a number of challenging climbs. On the second day of the ride you will be heading east through Algonquin Park towards Bancroft, a small town deep in the sparsely populated granite hills of eastern Ontario. The third day's ride will be through more forested hills before turning south towards Lake Ontario. The day will finish at Napanee for the overnight stop and recharge with a meal.  The last section of the ride takes you along the shores of Lake Ontario. The ride concludes back in Oshawa.

  • For night riding, machines must have front and back lights that are solidly attached to the machine, and which are continually on. The organizers will not let any participant begin or continue a brevet if their lighting system does not conform to this requirement. Each participant must turn on his or her lights at dusk and at any time when visibility is not sufficient (e.g., rain, fog, etc.). Even if participants are riding in a group, each person must have his or her lights on. At night it is obligatory to wear a reflective vest and it is recommended that light coloured clothes and reflective bands be worn. Any infraction of these requirements, which are noted outside of the control points, will result in disqualification.
